When are we operational?

We are available from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 18:00.

Our mission

Anatomopathological diagnosis

Cytological and histological exams on biological material are necessary for diagnosis for determination of diseases, predict its evolution and decide the most appropriate therapy.

Histological exam consists in the study via light microscope of the characteristics of tissue collected through biopsy (cutaneous, prostatic, gastrointestinal, hepatic, mammary, endometrial, etc.) or during surgical operations.
Cytological exam consists in the observation via light microscope of cells collected through fine needle (thyroid, breast, salivary glands, lymph nodes, pancreas, etc. fine needle aspiration) or exfoliated (PAP smear, urinary cytology, sputum, effusion, bronchial lavage, nipple secretion).
Both histological and cytological exams provide swift and precise diagnosis.

We also perform immediate tests on cytological and histological material to perform diagnosis on day-hospital basis.

Here are the numbers of our operational unit:

  • 11.000 histological exams per year
  • 2.000 cytological exams per year
  • 1.200 immunohistochemical and molecular analysis per year
  • extemporaneous exams per year

Technological innovation

Diagnosis of particularly complex cases are analysed with the most modern immunohistochemical and molecular techniques.

Modern treatment of oncologic patients is guided by the pathologist, who can evaluate genetic alterations of tumor DNA using modern techniques.
